Question by : Does amazon.com have the kindle covers for the latest kindle without the light anymore?
when i got the kindle there were cases for it w/ out the light and now i cant find them for 3rd gen. kindle. Do they make them anymore or and i just not looking hard enough?
i mean the covers that are made by amazon without the lights. i know they used to have them, what happened?

I just got my 3rd gen Kindle (to accompany my 1st gen model) and found dozens of covers on Amazon without lights. You can also find plenty on Ebay, as well.

Locally, I found one at Target, and I’m sure Bestbuy and other stores that sell the Kindle will also offer covers.

I live in Maldives so there are alot of rain showers…
I am not talking about heavy thunderstorms..just light showers
I know they arent water proof…what would happen if just a few drops of rain fell on it

They are Not waterproof.

Not unless you want a short-circuit from condensation to fry the device.

I’ve had devices fry in 90% humidity, let alone rain.

You do need a light for the Kindle. However, you can just use a regular book light. Also, the light doesnt make the screen hard to read at all because the screen has a matte finish.

needs a similar amount of external light as a paper book because its display is passive rather than active — has no light source of its own. This is good, in general, for reading but means that you cannot sit in a dark room and read it without a book light or a case that comes with a built-in night light.
