does it cost money to update ipod touch software?

i just bought my ipod touch on wednesday and as soon as i plugged it in to my comp. and went on itunes it asked me if i wanted to update my Ipod Touch G3 3.1.1 to a 3.1.2 software update and it sed on apple that it is good to update your ipod so the battery will last longer. does this update cost money? because i know a lot of people who say it doestn but i did some research on ipod touches and i found out that the g2 that had the 3.0 or sumthing like that ppl had to pay for ther update! am i going to get charged??!?! i just dont want to be charged for updating my ipod
